Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of a system of medicine that has been successfully treating people for over 2,000 years. It promotes circulation, reduces inflammation to eliminate pain, improves metabolism and restores proper functioning of all body systems. One of the basic theories of Chinese Medicine is that everything is connected, so the whole body is considered in treatment. Very delicate needles are placed in various parts of the body to help naturally correct any imbalances that might be causing negative changes. Points are chosen based on a sophisticated system of diagnosis. It is both safe and effective, and many people describe it as being extremely relaxing.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbs come from plant, mineral and animal substances. One of the greatest benefits of herbal medicine is that formulas are customized for each person based on his/her treatment needs at a specific point in time. Unlike Western pharmaceuticals that may cause unwanted side effects, herbal prescriptions are balanced to treat with minimal side effects.

Nutritional Counseling

As the most consistent thing we put in our bodies, food is some of the best medicine we have! Nutritional counseling and lifestyle recommendations are a fundamental part of a holistic treatment plan.

BioMat Therapy

The BioMat is an FDA approved medical device that combines Far Infared Rays (FIR), negative ions and the conductive properties of amethyst crystal. Far infrared light stimulates the production of healthy cell tissue, promoting faster, more complete healing processes. Far infrared therapy also encourages the elimination of cellular wastes and toxins. Negative ions stimulate the creation of more calcium and sodium minerals in the blood, which increases blood alkalinity and improves health. These two are delivered to the body via the amethyst crystals, which have the ability to act as a super conductor in the BioMat. Negative ions and FIR passed through it are actually amplified. As a result, greater penetration into body tissues (6-8 inches) is achieved, regenerating muscle, blood vessels, and nerve tissue.

Complementary Treatment Modalities

Electro-acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture is the addition of a small electric current that is passed through the acupuncture needles for increased stimulation. The patient typically does not feel any discomfort. This treatment is appropriate for decreasing pain, reducing inflammation, and accelerating tissue healing.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves the burning of the herb Ai Ye (mugwart) on or near acupuncture points to facilitate healing. It is used to strengthen and stimulate the flow of qi and blood, as well as maintain general health.

Cupping

Cupping is the method of using glass jars to create a vacuum on the skin's surface. By drawing up the skin, the pores open. This promotes blood flow to the area, balances qi flow, breaks up obstruction, and allows a means for toxins to exit the body. Patients typically find this treatment to be quite soothing and relaxing.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha involves rubbing the skin with a round-edged instrument to promote normal circulation, and rid tissue and muscles of metabolic waste by moving congested fluids.
